Drag and Drop

Drag and drop lets you reorganize your timeline in seconds. Use it when plans shift, when you want to move a task later in the day, or when you need to carry something into tomorrow without opening the editor.

How to Drag a Time Block

1. Tap and hold the time block you want to move
2. Drag it to a new time in your timeline
3. Release to drop it in place

Align shows a live preview while you drag, so you can see where the block will land before you let go.

Move a Time Block to Another Day

You can also drag across days:

1. Start dragging a time block
2. Move it toward the edge of the screen
3. Keep dragging while Align slides to the next or previous day
4. Drop the block when you reach the right spot

This is useful for quickly pushing unfinished work to tomorrow or pulling something forward from another day.

How It Works with Overlap Avoidance

With overlap avoidance enabled, Align automatically makes room when needed:

• Dropping on the top half of a time block places your item before it
• Dropping on the bottom half places your item after it
• Other blocks can shift to keep your schedule organized

If overlap avoidance is off, drag and drop keeps the regular placement behavior and won't automatically reorganize nearby blocks.

Tips

• Use drag and drop to quickly reorder your day without opening the time block editor
• Combine it with resizing time blocks when you need to change both timing and duration
• Lock important appointments first if you don't want them to move. Learn more about locked time blocks

Common Questions

Can I drag locked time blocks?
No. Locked time blocks stay fixed until you unlock them.

Can I drag a block to a different day without dropping it first?
Yes. Keep dragging to the edge of the screen and Align will move between days while you hold the block.

Does drag and drop work with overlap avoidance turned off?
Yes. The interaction still works, but Align won't use before/after drop placement or shift nearby blocks for you.
