Free Time Blocking Template: Daily, Weekly & Monthly (PDF, Excel, Google Sheets)
A time blocking template is a schedule grid with a row for each time slot. You give every task its own block on the clock, so a to-do list becomes a plan you can check before the day begins. Below are free time blocking templates (sometimes called block schedule templates or time blocking worksheets) for a single day, a 5-day or 7-day week, and a month. Each one comes as a printable PDF, an editable Excel file, or a Google Sheet, with no signup.

What is a time blocking template?
A time blocking template is a pre-formatted schedule grid where each row is a time slot and each column is a day (or a single column for daily templates). You write or type your tasks directly into the slots, turning a vague to-do list into a committed plan with start times, end times, and clear transitions.
The templates on this page were created by Align, a free visual time blocking app for iPhone. They use the same practical ideas as the app: fixed commitments first, visible priorities, and breathing room between demanding blocks.
How to use a time blocking template
- Block fixed commitments first — meetings, school pickup, commute, meals.
- Schedule your top 2-3 priorities into your highest-energy hours.
- Leave buffer time between demanding tasks to absorb transitions and overruns.
- Color-code by category (work, personal, health, deep work) so you can see balance at a glance.
- Review at the end of the day — what worked, what slipped, what to move to tomorrow.
Prefer an app over a template?
Templates are a useful way to learn the method. If rewriting the page becomes the frustrating part, a time blocking app is faster: drag and resize blocks, repeat routines, set reminders, and keep calendar events on the same timeline. Align also works as a digital time blocking planner for daily and weekly planning.
